Mangano Calcite, also called Manganocalcite or Manganoan Calcite, is a manganese-bearing variety of Calcite (CaCO₃). Its coloration commonly ranges from nearly white with a subtle blush to soft pastel pink and deeper rosy shades, depending on manganese content and other natural characteristics within the material.
Some Mangano Calcite specimens display beautiful fluorescence under ultraviolet light, potentially glowing pink, red, or orange-red depending on composition and the wavelength of UV light used. This response naturally varies between specimens.
Calcite belongs to the trigonal crystal system and measures approximately 3 on the Mohs hardness scale. Because it is considerably softer than Quartz, Mangano Calcite can take a beautiful polish but requires gentle handling to protect its surface.
