History

Yooperlite was discovered in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (U.P.) in 2017 by Erik Rintamaki. The name "Yooperlite" combines "Yooper," a colloquial term for residents of the Upper Peninsula, and "lite," referring to the stone's glowing fluorescence under UV light. Yooperlite is a type of syenite rock that contains fluorescent sodalite, giving it a unique glow. It is found primarily along the shores of Lake Superior.

Proper Care

To cleanse, use lukewarm running water and mild soap with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners. Place next to or on selenite to spiritually cleanse. Sage/smudging and palo santo will also cleanse your crystal and release negative energies. To charge, place in/on a selenite plate or bowl, in the light of the sun, or the full moon for 6-8 hours. To amplify Yooperlite’s energy, place near Clear Quartz, wear with Clear Quartz, or place on a Clear Quartz plate.
