Lapis Lazuli: The Stone of Wisdom
Lapis Lazuli is a timeless symbol of truth, enlightenment, and inner power. Revered as the “Stone of Wisdom,” this celestial blue crystal activates the higher mind, enhances intuition, and encourages deep self-awareness. Its energy supports spiritual growth, emotional healing, and authentic expression—making it ideal for those seeking clarity, courage, and connection to their soul’s truth. Lapis Lazuli is especially powerful for those navigating transformation, shadow work, or leadership roles, as it strengthens the voice and reveals the wisdom within.
This stone’s protective vibration shields against psychic attack and dissolves emotional blockages, while its calming influence harmonizes the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical bodies. Whether worn as jewelry, placed on the altar, or used in meditation, Lapis Lazuli invites you to speak your truth and live with purpose.
Geological Origins & Composition
Lapis Lazuli is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of lazurite, with additional minerals such as augite, calcite, diopside, enstatite, mica, hauynite, hornblende, nosean, sodalite, and pyrite. Its signature deep blue hue is often flecked with golden pyrite or veined with white calcite. The name derives from Latin: lapis meaning “stone” and lazulum meaning “sky” or “heaven.”
Major deposits are found in Afghanistan (notably the Sar-e-Sang mines), as well as Argentina, the United States, Canada, Angola, Burma, and Pakistan. Russian and Chilean specimens often contain more calcite, making them less prized by collectors but still energetically potent.
Historical Lore
Lapis Lazuli has been mined in Afghanistan since 7000 B.C., making it one of the oldest known gemstones. It was traded across the Mediterranean and South Asia during the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, often carved into beads, bowls, amulets, and ceremonial tools.
In Ancient Egypt, Lapis Lazuli was sacred. It adorned the golden sarcophagus of King Tutankhamen, appeared in scarabs and magical eye-shaped amulets, and was ground into powder for Cleopatra’s iconic eyeshadow. The Egyptian Book of the Dead describes Lapis as a stone of divine protection and spiritual power.
In Sumeria, Lapis was mentioned in the Epic of Gilgamesh, where the Bull of Heaven’s horns were said to be made of the stone. Over 6,000 Lapis artifacts were discovered at the tomb of Ur, including statuettes, seals, and jewelry.
During the Middle Ages, Lapis Lazuli was believed to purify the soul and protect the body from fear, envy, and rage. It was often mislabeled as sapphire, despite its distinct composition. In the Renaissance, its powdered form was used to create the ultramarine blues in illuminated manuscripts and masterful paintings.

Frequently called "The Master Healer," quartz is one of the most powerful crystals known for its ability to amplify energy. The name "quartz" derives from the German word "Quarz." This mineral is the second most abundant in Earth's crust, just behind feldspar, and it can be found and produced worldwide. While China, Japan, and Russia are the primary producers, quartz's various colors and forms each possess distinct energies and special healing properties.
History
Quartz has played a significant role in many ancient cultures and civilizations. The earliest talismans of the stone date back to 75,000 B.C. In Australian Aboriginal Mythology, quartz was known as the mystical substance "maban," believed to grant shamans their magical powers. The Ancient Greeks and Romans thought quartz crystals, called "Krystallos," were pieces of frozen ice that would not melt. Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder observed quartz's ability to reveal prisms of light. Across Europe and the Middle East, quartz was commonly used for jewelry and hardstone carvings. Today, it remains integral to spiritual healing and cultural rituals and is widely used in art, glassmaking, countertops, frequency vibration in crystal oscillators, lasers, microscopes, scientific instruments, and various electronic devices.
