Moldavite is a natural green tektite, a type of impact glass formed approximately 14.7–15 million years ago following the meteorite impact that created the Ries crater in what is now Germany. Material generated and ejected during this extraordinary impact event traveled through the atmosphere and cooled into natural glass, with Moldavite primarily found today in areas of the Czech Republic.
