Kyanite — also spelled cyanite and historically called disthene — is an aluminosilicate mineral found in aluminum‑rich metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rocks. It forms in long, bladed crystals and is often found with quartz, mica, and garnet. While best known for its deep blue color, Kyanite also appears in indigo, black, white, gray, pink, yellow, orange, and the rarest variety: green Kyanite.
