 Also known as the “Stone of Transformation” Charoite is a purple stone with a silky, pearly luster.  It has a mixed translucency and is a complex mix of minerals.  It often appears mottled or swirled due to this unique composition.  Charoite has a magical charm which boasts high vibrations and frequencies that strengthen both the body, energy field and cleanse the aura.  Its healing lavender energy assists to nourish intuition and predictive abilities while grounding the spiritual self into a positive everyday reality.  Charoite bestows the ability of perspective.  It relinquishes all fears, and allows you to seize the day with vigor, and spontaneity.  It’s known for its ability to relieve anxiety, stress, and worry, so it becomes effortless to move forward through challenges with a relaxed and level-headed mind.  Charoite will help to find appreciation in the present moment, find acceptance in others and in situations, and aide in decision making by coming up with innate thoughts, answers and ideas.  

History

Charoite is termed a very rare stone due to it only being found in the Sakha Republic area of Siberia in Russia.  More specifically, at the Murunskii Massif, which is a scarce geologic formation of which there are only a few worldwide.  Charoite was only more recently discovered in 1949 when the construction of a railway tunnel was underway.  It was confirmed as a new species of mineral in 1977.  There are two theories on how Charoite’s name was coined, which are still being disputed.  One theory is that its name came from the Russian word “Chary” which means “charms” or “magic”.  The other theory is that it was found approximately 70 km away from the Chara River, therefore, was named after the river.  Since this mystical stone is only found in one place in the world, the resources are limited contributing to its rarity.  Geologists suggest that there may never be another deposit found of this beautiful and unusual crystal.  It is known that part of the Russian government debt was paid in Charoite.  Seeing as how this stone was more recently found, there is not a rich history of it being used during ancient times.  It is documented that Mongols created Ornamental objects with the stone, in addition to boiling the stone in their tea water as it was believed to strengthen family ties.

Proper Care

The best way to clean charoite is with room temperature water and mild soap. Rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth.  You may also use sage to smudge and cleanse energetically. 

To charge your Charoite crystal, you may place it in the sun or moonlight, on a surface that will not get too warm in the sun or too damp in the moonlight.  Using sound healing waves can also help to cleanse crystals of any negative energies.  Lastly, Selenite can be used to cleanse and charge your crystals due to its purification properties.
