Celestite was first documented in the 1790s, named from the Latin caelestis, meaning “heavenly”—a nod to its sky-blue hue and celestial energy. It is a strontium sulfate mineral, often found in geodes and clusters, with the most prized specimens originating from Madagascar and Ohio. The world’s largest known geode, discovered in Ohio, is lined entirely with Celestite crystals and spans over 35 feet in diameter, showcasing the stone’s natural grandeur.
